This week we're making a note of Christmas at Preston Market, reviewing another burger, and we gear up for the Northern Raiders elimination final!

Merry Everything at Preston Market

Preston Market

Well then, where has this year gone? Every year we say that the time seems to fly by quicker and quicker, and Christmas is almost upon us.

The Preston Market is hosting weekly events throughout December, with the Merry Everything event coming up on the 11th of December. The Merry Everything event will have everything from food, drinks, pop-up stalls, craft stalls, cooking demonstrations, kids' activities, and live music, and even Santa is making an appearance.

The market is always a special place to visit around this time of the year, so grab the family and head down to enjoy the festivities!

Monash Warriors vs Northern Raiders - Elimination Final

Northern Raiders

This is a big one for the Northern Raiders. They will face the Monash Warriors in an elimination final as the Raiders look to make an impact during the finals for season 2022.

The home and away season hasn't gone exactly to plan for the Raiders, finishing up with a win/loss record of 2-6 from their 8 games. But that doesn't mean they don't have a chance to upset some teams in the finals.

The Raiders are facing the Monash Warriors tomorrow, and it will prove to be another stern test for our local gridiron team. The Warriors put the Raiders to the sword in their final game of the home and away season, running out 50-6 winners in a one-sided contest.

But that was then, and this is now. The Raiders have the chance to make amends and see if they can string together some strong plays to test the Warriors.

The game starts at 12pm on December 3rd and is at DR Atkinson Reserve.

The Raiders will appreciate the support from the locals as they attempt to overcome one of the strongest teams in the league. Get down to the game and show Monash what the North is all about!

When and Where: Saturday December 3rd at 12pm - DR Atkinson Reserve, Reservoir.

Kustom Burgers - 120Y Skidz Cheese Burger

It's been a few weeks since we've headed out to grab a burger to review, and we figured why not treat ourselves to some yummy lunch after we've cast our vote for the state election.

Our voting centre was in Thornbury, so we headed to one of the most beloved burger joints in the area, Kustom Burgers.

Walking through the front door of Kustom Burgers, you'll find yourself in an American-style diner fitted out with leather booths and checkerboard floors. The place has a burger institution vibe to it.

We moved to the menu, and the choice was easy for us. The 120Y Skids Cheeseburger with chips for $11 was impossible to go past.

The burger is small in stature but big in flavour. You get a perfectly grilled beef patty, topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and ketchup, all sandwiched between your bun of choice (we went for the traditional option). The beauty is in the simplicity of this burger.

It's not so massive that you can't eat it, but it's also enough to scratch that burger craving without feeling like you overate.

To top it all off, you get super crunchy chips on the side, and the whole thing only costs $11! Easily one of the best options in the area.

If you're looking for a great burger at an affordable price, then you won't find much better than the 120Y Skidz at Kustom Burgers!
